As a class define resistance by discussing various forms it might take, including armed resistance, spiritual resistance, and cultural resistance. Ask students for specific examples of actions that might fit into each of those categories. As alternatives are discussed, consider why one might be chosen over another.
After discussing what resistance looks like, spend some time looking at examples from the “Stories” section of the website. Suggested stories include:
Lisa and Aron Derman
Edward Zhilin
Mikhail Khanin
Ask students to share what form of resistance the Survivor enacted. Ask them to consider the risks, motivations, and outcomes of their resistance.
