Konstancija Brazeniene was chair of a Catholic women’s organization in Kaunas, Lithuanian. In 1943, when rumors of an Aktion spread throughout the ghetto, Chaya Shilingovski asked Konstancija to shelter her five-year-old daughter, Sara. Konstancija was able to obtain false identity papers and passed Sara off as her niece. Despite the danger and financial burden, Konstancija took in another child, Alexander Gringauz. She looked after the two children until the end of the war. On July 21, 1970, Yad Vashem recognized Konstancija Brazeniene as Righteous Among the Nations.
